DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Bergamot has a long history of use as an essential ingredient in body powders, tobaccos, potpourri, perfumes, cosmetics and fragrances. If you’re a tea drinker, you may recognize the light and refreshing notes it brings to your cup of Earl Grey Tea! Bergamot has a wide spectrum of applications in addition to its calming and balancing properties, such as supporting emotional and mental fatigue, overwhelm, and is especially uplifting during times of situational stress.
Bergamot is phototoxic which means you should avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for up to 18 hours after applying Bergamot to the skin. Serious skin burns can occur if Bergamot is applied and the skin is exposed to the sun or a tanning booth. It may be used safely (no phototoxic response) on the skin in a blend at no more than 0.4% (2 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil). If you are using the oil on an area of your skin that has no exposure to the sun or UV light, then there is no safety concern.
